Light Requirements
•    Full sun (6 or more hours of direct sunlight a day) is required for optimum growth.
•    Intolerant of shade: It does not perform well in full shade conditions.

Soil Preference
•    Prefers average, dry to medium, well-drained soils.
•    Highly adaptable to heavy clays, poor, dry, and infertile soils, as well as shallow-rocky textures.
•    Handles moist, occasionally dry, or occasionally wet drainage conditions.

Note on Soil Quality: In moist, highly rich soils, the grass has a strong tendency to open up and flop over.

•    Environmental/Chemical Pressures: Remarkably tough against drought, dry soil, soil erosion, air pollution, and black walnut toxicity.

Note on Management: Can naturalize aggressively by self-seeding under optimum conditions; cutting it back to the ground in late winter is advised.
