'Grand Traverse' is the result of a C. colurna X C. avellana hybrid. This plant demonstrates resistance to EFB (believed to be acquired from its 'Faroka' lineage), is semi-vigorous with an upright form with a slightly spreading growth habit. Comes in a 2 gallon pot, plant is 1-3ft.
**Although it is resistant to EFB in NJ, in 2018 it demonstrated cankers. Thus, it is EFB tolerant, but not immune. Suggested to be used as a pollinizer**
Yield: Low-yielding
Nuts: Small (10-12mm), compressed and slightly pointed, and ~40-50% kernel by weight
Bloom time: Mid-season in NJ
Nut abscission (when they fall to the ground): Last week of September
Compatible pollinizers: ‘Monmouth’, ‘Raritan', 'Somerset', 'The Beast' ™, 'Hunterdon', and ‘Gene’.
It is important to note that 'Grand Traverse' is able to provide pollen for all of the above cultivars**
**Disclaimer: the image is for demonstration purposes and is not know to be from any particular cultivar**
